On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to extend a warm invitation to join us for EPR 2007, a joint Conference of the 12th International In Vivo EPR Spectroscopy and Imaging, and the 9th International EPR Spin Trapping workshops, to be held April 29-May 3, 2007 in Chicago, IL, USA. This conference promises to be especially appealing because of the joint sponsorship between groups at the University of Chicago, with its history of work in in vivo imaging and spectroscopy, and groups at the Medical College of Wisconsin, with its contributions to spin trapping and instrumental development. Recent advances in both areas have been exciting, and there will be much to show and learn at EPR 2007.
EPR 2007, by its very nature, blends together a mixture of topics, combining some of the most prominent contributors from the joint fields with complementary but overlapping strengths. Special highlights of EPR 2007 include a kickoff symposium honoring Dr. James Hyde on his 75th birthday, and the presentation of the International EPR Society Silver Medal to Dr. Jay Zweier. We have put together an outstanding program designed to encourage interaction and discussion. The agenda includes
- Hyde Symposium
- EPR Imaging and Spectroscopy Applications
- EPR imaging and Spectroscopy Techniques
- EPR Instrumentation
- Spin Trap and Spin Probe Synthesis
- Spin trapping applications in Biology and Medicine
- Distance Measurements by Pulse EPR
- Spin Label Bioreduction and EPR in Biomedicine
- Radiation Dosimetry and Effects
- Presentation of the IES Silver Medal
While in Chicago, one can’t help but be captured by the energy of the Windy City. Chicago’s night skyline may be one of the most beautiful of any large American city. EPR 2007 will be held at the Hilton in downtown Chicago, just blocks from the Lake Michigan shoreline, the Chicago Loop, the food and fun of State and Rush Streets, and just steps away from the John Hancock Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Magnificent Mile.
The field of EPR is expanding and exploring new frontiers. We would like to offer you an event of high scientific value and an outstanding venue. We hope that you enjoy the EPR 2007 conference and that your participation contributes to your professional development and relationships. Meanwhile, please visit our website at: http://www.epr2007.org and we look forward to greeting you in Chicago in April.
